Group Homes

Since our founding nearly a century ago, our top priority has always been providing a safe, supportive environment for local youth in need.

Open Door Home operates two group homes: the girls’ home located at 5 Leon St SW, Rome, GA, and the boys’ home located at 792 John Davenport Dr, Rome, GA. Between both homes, we have the capacity to house over 20 foster youth ages 12 through 21. We strive to help each youth reach their full potential to live healthier, happier and more productive lives. Each of our group homes truly is a home environment where we strive to nurture the teens in our care.

Open Door Home provides for youths’ basic needs of living, including facilities that are safe, clean, and well-maintained, a nutritionist-approved rotating menu, clothing, medical care, and mental health treatment from an in-house therapist. We provide a structured and consistent schedule and assistance with activities of daily living.

We prioritize education and academic achievement, and our Educational Liaison partners with schools to ensure youth have access to resources and accommodations that set them up to succeed. Youth have the opportunity to participate in recreational activities both at the home and in the Rome community.

Open Door Home utilizes Trust Based Relational Interventions (TBRI) for its Trauma Informed Care Model. TBRI® is designed to meet the complex needs of children who have experienced adversity, early harm, toxic stress, and/or trauma. Because of their histories, it is often difficult for these children to trust the loving adults in their lives, which often results in perplexing behaviors. TBRI® offers practical tools for parents, caregivers, teachers, or anyone who works with children, to see the whole child in their care and help that child reach their highest potential.
