Our Mission

Providing for the needs of the dependent, neglected, and/or abused children of Northwest Georgia and helping them to live a healthier, happier and more productive life.

Open Door Children's Home (ODCH) provides emergency and extended care for children from birth to 18 years of age. Children are placed in the home because of neglect, abandonment, sexual abuse, physical abuse, lack of supervision, truancy, lack of appropriate living arrangements or the absence of parents through illness, death, or incarceration.

In addition to crisis intervention, emergency care and extended care, ODCH provides resources in independent and transitional living. The staff is committed to and focused on the care and well-being of the children. A therapeutic environment permeates every aspect of care and every child receives:

basic needs of living, including shelter, food, clothing
a nurturing and caring home-like environment
a well-balanced, nutritionist approved rotating menu
a structured and consistent schedule
facilities that are safe, clean, and well-maintained
assistance with activities of daily living
medical, dental and psychological care
care from master's level therapists
emphasis on academic achievement
