VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Mentor

Mentors can make a significant impact in the life a child. Each relationship is unique, but some activities may include: playing a board game together, going on a hike, going to church together, enjoying a meal at a restaurant, sharing and teaching of your talents, being a friend and a source of encouragement. Please contact Ms. Linda Burks regarding necessary paperwork and for information regarding requirements and expectations. Resident Assistant

Monday – Friday
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 P.M. (Summer)
3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (Fall, Winter & Spring)
Assist House Parents, check pantry for expired goods, clean clothes closet and storage rooms, organize playroom and library, help at front desk and answer phones, assist with meal and snack prep, assist with homework, accept donations and issue receipts, assist with activities with children, etc.

Administrative Assistant

Monday – Friday
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Year-round)
Assist administrative staff with general office work including answering phones, mailings, filing, typing, data entry, event prep, etc.

Buildings & Grounds Assistant

Monday – Friday
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Year-round)
Assist home with general maintenance issues including lawn and grounds maintenance, gardening, small building and repair projects, painting, etc.

Group Projects

Groups are scheduled to come to Open Door Children's Home to help with projects such as landscaping, painting, small building and repair jobs and other helpful areas that keep our facilities well maintained and safe for our children while keeping the cost down. Groups are also encouraged to come and host activities for the children such as parties, arts and crafts, musical performances, etc.
